  • invisibility
    • presnts you with information you desire, but actively helps obscure information for others

availability

  • free to acquire
  • not free to run - req’s hardware and has (intrusive) ads
  • social costs - increases communication availability.
  • “nag factor” - can be annoying in that it generates output w/o user (receiver of message) input

imdb

main purpose

  • provides information relating to movies
  • provides side-deals to other services, i.e. showtimes

not good things

  • semantic understanding very poor. does not understand the content it describes- searching frustrating.
  • aesthetics questionable - frontpage cluttered with non-primary information.
  • info reliability - where does this info come from?

itunes

  • difficult to find information
  • piracy
  • drm - locked to a few playback methods- control over the process.
  • uninteresting
